I am so inspired by all of the people who want to get more involved and make their voices heard to those who serve as our leaders in Washington.
I have certainly heard you, and because of how many constituents have expressed to me that they want to know what is going on, I have committed to hold one town hall a month between now and Nov 2018 (except for August and December of 2017) across my district. Over 500 people attended my town hall in February in Plainview, and over 300 participated at my town hall in March in Glen Cove. I expect a good turnout at my April town hall next week in Queens.
In February, because of so much interest from my constituents on my Facebook, I formed the group Heard in the Third, divided up my congressional district into 16 different neighborhoods and invited people to go to the website, www.heardinthethird.com and find out what neighborhood group they were in, and pledged to help get them more involved.
Several people not only signed up on our website, but also indicated by checking off a box, that they wanted to be even more involved in organizing their neighborhoods.
We are looking for captains, or co-captains, who will serve as organizers and communicate with your neighbors who also signed up on the Heard in the Third website, try to recruit even more members, and work with us to figure out the best way for people to stay organized and involved.
I am holding a meeting on Saturday, April 22, 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM at the VFW Hall on 320 S. Broadway in Hicksville so that we can brainstorm ideas and suggestions and make a plan to get more people involved and how to best organize our neighborhoods. I have some ideas, but more importantly, I want to hear from you. I want to know what your ideas are.
We will serve lunch at the meeting, and our intention is for this to be a working meeting of free-flowing ideas and discussion of what we can do as neighbors to be Heard in the Third!
I hope I see you on Saturday, April 22 at 12:30 PM at the Hicksville VFW I want to know what you think!
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 516-474-0430 and let us know if you can make it. Please feel free to invite people who you believe want to get more involved also.
